Pepper is a beautiful black Kiger mustang. Unsure how a Kiger is different than other mustangs? They’re from a particular herd (well, two, actually) in Oregon. The movie Spirit, Stallion of the Cimmaron was based on a Kiger.
Anyway, Lea and Nikki (that’s Pepper’s human sister) came to the Anacortes Market yesterday to say hello and pick up some lotion. Lea drove all the way from the other side of the state, near Idaho, just to see me. While she was here she decided to stop in and see her daughter and grandkids.
Okay, so that’s not quite true. She came for the daughter and grandkids, and I was second on the list. Or maybe third, as I think I came behind fishing, too. Either way, it was nice to see Lea’s smiling face. She recently lost one of her dear horses, Star. You might just say a prayer for Lea and ask God to heal her broken heart.
I’m off and running again. It’s not quite six am and still dark out, but there’s a neighborhood market that’s happening today. They want to get it up and running full time next year, so this is rather an introductory thing today, just to let folks know we’ll be at it full swing in the spring. I’ve got to get outside and milk Bessie and feed the critters. At least the truck is still packed from yesterday!
Y’all have a blessed Sunday

I love this photo. I checked your CafePress shop since I’m a shopkeeper myself and wanted to let you know how clever I think that Desperate Horsewife calendar is. Much good luck with sales.
Oh, that horse is sooo beautiful!!!!
Oh, I love the calendar!!! Such pretty pictures!!
wow, Pepper is a beautiful horse! Makes me want one…but without all the work involved!
I know exactly how Lea feels, the broken heart and wounds still run too fresh and deep here for me. I know that is a chance one takes when dealing with livestock but that doesn’t mend the broken hearts when you loose one. Please tell her how sorry I am and I too am walking the walk with her. Hope things went well at the new show. hope you and yours have a blessed day.
