Whilst I was at the market on Saturday, the Fence Fairy came! I’d been struggling to get that derned heavy roll of fencing over the buffalo grass, so had asked CityBoy to go down and weed whack it. When I came home, not only had a path been whacked, but the fence was up! So now, not only have I got a way to seperate ewes from rams, lambs from ewes, and sheep from coyotes, Darling and I can also bring a horse or two down to enjoy a bit of grazing.
Now…if only the ice cream fairy would come…
Quiet Storm enjoys belly deep grass. Thank you, Fence Fairy!
We’ve got a busy couple of days here. Today the vet and farrier are both coming out to help take care of Sunny’s feet. Try as I might, I’ve just not been able to get that girl to accept me handling her legs, so the vet will need to drug her, enabling the farrier to trim her toes back to an acceptable length. It will no doubt be a traumatic ordeal for her, but those feet are so long right now that they pose a threat to her tendons.
The right front has already split and cracked off, but you can see on the left how long they both were. When hooves get that long, they begin to cause the horse to rock back and put more weight over the heel than they ought to. Sunny’s hind feet aren’t as long as the front, but she’s beginning to over reach when she trots; her hind feet hit the front ones with nearly every stride.
So, before I end up with a completely lame horse, I’ve got to get this taken care of. She won’t appreciate it, of course, but she’ll feel much better once it’s done.
Thanks for stopping by, everyone; have a terrific day! And don’t forget to vote!
Good luck with Sunny’s feet!
So nice of the fence fairy to make an appearance. If the ice cream fairy shows up, send him my way! 🙂
Hey can you send that fence fairy my way?
Good luck with Sunny’s feet. She might learn something, though not too much. Rhoen was much easier to handle after we did his feet while he was out – of course he was gelded at the same time… I can’t wait to see the after pics and find out how it all went. 🙂
I like your fence fairy. Maybe we can send the truth fairy to Washington!

Poor thing. I’m not a big fan of poeple touching my feet either, but I’ve learned to get over it since I don’t like giving myself a pedicure.
This brings back memories my parents used to install a fence like this every few years.
I actually knew what a farrier was. I’m so proud of myself, lol.
I’m sure Sunny will feel much better once her hooves are trimmed.
I need the fence fairy to come my way for a while. I worked on Dass’s feet the other day. I just trimmed and reset her shoes. The shoes I put on about 4 weeks ago are still in good shape. The price I had to pay for 4 shoes need to last her a long time. I haven’t run her very much so they are still good as new. Now, trigger, I have to get someone else in here to do his shoeing. He likes to kick too much. The new horse is still young, I do trim her hoofs about every 4 weeks, I haven’t put shoes on her yet, still trying to decide if she is a keeper or a sales. She is still in training. She will catch on real good then come morning she forgets. It’s alot of ground work every day for her.
Have a good one. How’s the lipz?lol only you would do something like that and then tell it. I can just see you now with your face plastered on the window.lol

Oh don’t you just LUV it, when those workin’ faeries come by?!?
