Must be winter. Our temps are well below freezing now, with frost so thick it’s often mistaken for the objectionable white stuff. Darling’s bedroom never thawed out yesterday. Well, not the bedroom itself, but the roof stayed white. The ground is hard and the hose if frozen. Which means this farm diva is packing buckets in her pajamas in the mornings and it never fails that icy cold water ends up splashing onto my legs and running down into my boot.
Have you ever packed icy cold buckets of water in the mornings when it’s freezing out? I can tell you there are at least ten things I’d rather be doing.
1.) Watch grass grow. Mostly because grass grows best in warm weather.
2.) Picking up the Grammar Nazi’s dirty socks. Sometimes stinky, but not cold.
3.) Watch my niece pick her nose. (Give the kid a break, she’s not even two.)
4.) Cleaning kitty litter. Again, it can stink, but at least it’s indoors.
5.) Ironing. I hate ironing. I don’t do it. But I think I’d rather do that than pack a bucket of water in winter.
6.) Play Wii Tennis with my kids. I always feel like I’m going to have a heart attack, and they always win.
7.) Dance to a Spice Girls video while wearing those platformed sneakers.
8.) Double date with Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn.
9.) Sit through a 24 hour Family Guy marathon.
10.) Post photos of me in my two piece swim suit and black rubber barn boots about to clean the barn.
On second thought, make that nine things I’d rather do.
